Has Microsoft called off the launch of ARM powered processors for Windows 8 desktops? Will Windows feature Metro user interface in their desktops? According to the latest online reports, you will find the Metro user interface (which was first launched in Windows Phone 7 devices) missing in the traditional Windows based desktops. In addition, the traditional Windows desktops are not included in the line of products from Microsoft that are powered by ARM-based processors. As of now, Windows 8 based tablets and phones will be powered with ARM-based processors.
The ARM-based versions of Windows 8 will not be included in the Windows based desktops and will not feature the facility for using desktop apps online. As per the latest updates, the new Windows 8 desktops will be powered with the same old Intel processors that powered the Windows 7 based machines. Microsoft had denied the earlier claims made by Intel executives in May regarding Intel processor powered P.Cs. Even the Microsoft team then expected the ARM based processors to power up their new line of desktops and laptops. However, now it seems that Windows has gone in favor of the Intel people by launching the desktop series with the same old-fashioned Intel power ups.
According to Thurrott, Microsoft will be launching neither Windows 8 based ARM powered systems nor Windows desktop apps that would run on ARM-based devices in the near future. According to Mr.Thurrott, the change in Microsoft’s plans seems new. This was not something that the computing world expected of Microsoft. The company even in the recently held Microsoft’s BUILD conference confirmed the launch of ARM-based Windows 8 devices that included the desktop and laptop series. Even the post reports of the Microsoft’s BUILD conference had three ARM devices.
Challenging the iPad
The pure Metro tablet from Windows 8 would be a sure challenge for the Apple iPad. Compared to the older versions 7, 7.5 and 7.8, Windows 8 problems are almost nil and are easier to handle. The Windows 8 based phones and tablets powered by ARM based processors are simpler and easier to use than any Android or Mac O.S based devices. They are far superior in graphics interface and other technicalities. We techies are expecting the launch of the same soon.
Feel free to write to us your Windows 8 problems and queries. Let us see whether Windows will keep up with the expectations or not.
